Before I started this healthy eating regime I'm on, this used to be my favorite place for a takeaway. Their chicken fried rice was to die for, I loved their slightly thicker than normal prawn crackers and, on the occasion a chicken fried rice didn't tickle my fancy, I'd indulge in a chicken and cashew nut. As usual with a Chinese takeaway, their portions were a bit too large for me but I think that the food to money ratio works out as really reasonable. While there are cheaper takeaways around, the quality of this food is definitely one of the best around. The chicken is always very good, which is something that can be a turn off in Chinese takeaway restaurants.
In terms of a sit down meal, the rare times that I have had a sit-down meal in this restaurant it always seems to be quiet. There was very rarely more than one other group sitting down to a meal which I found quite strange; while it is predominantly a takeaway, and I guess this is where they make most of their income, I would have assumed there would have been more people taking advantage of such a well placed restaurant. The restaurant itself, however, could definitely do with a makeover. For a party of two people, I found it almost awkward to sit and eat as it felt as if the servers were our own personal staff and, while it was slightly strange to be waited on and a little bit enjoyable, it was evidently a turn off. I think this restaurant is a great find for people who are looking to have a large party as the space is usually empty so they should be able to accommodate you and there would be no worries of bothering other patrons. I think a bit of a refurbishment would really jazz this place up; especially if they took a more authentic approach. For some reason the attractiveness of places such as the Jasmine Palace have waned on me as they seem to have tried to be too modern and too westernized. The Dragon Phoenix maintains an authentic feel and I think some redecorating with this feel in mind would really benefit them.
Overall, I think this place is great for a takeaway, and they deliver with quite a large free delivery radius. In terms of a sit down meal, I think there are better places in the area that you could chose.

Food reasonable. But portion sizes are stingy small. There are other Chinese takeaways locally that are actually double the size for the same price or even less. This wasn't always the way, but they have reduced and reduced over the past while. It appears the restaurant is has a new manager now, this may be something to do with it being ran like this.
For sit down, unless it is summer the place is cold, I mean without any heating cold. Prices for sit down are reasonable and they do have a basic but cheap set menu, especially for lunch.

Overall: If they weren't so tight on the amount of food they give, they would be fine for takeaway. But for sit down it is not somewhere you would want to go for a party or something, there is never anyone eating there, it is freezing cold and I think really just because there is never anyone else eating there it is kind of weird.
